Hold the line on taxes
From the onset Dan worked feverously to contain the run a way train of exorbitant taxes, he worked out an arrangement whereby the County would lower taxes after revaluation equivalent to the amount of the taxes previously paid. Read more.

New! Welcome to Dan Ramirez.com, the central location for updates from Dan on the issues that matter.

The 2008 election will be a pivotal occurrence for Charlotte. Thank you to the many that supported my issues (our issues, during my period in office in the County Commission). The issues that we must deal with are not easy and sometimes not very popular, but they benefit all of our Mecklenburg residents.
I am proud to represent the citizens of Charlotte/Mecklenburg and hope that this website will be of assistance to you as you seek information about County Government and the work that I am doing on your behalf.

Leadership
I formed a coalition that negotiated and passed the School Bonds last year with an overwhelming vote of 9 to 0. Because of this effort, the people of Mecklenburg County approved the bond referendum by a wide percentage and now the school system has embarked in an ambitious program of building schools where they are needed most, particularly in the areas that have experienced major growth and overcrowding.

The democratic majority of the County Commission increased taxes last year. I voted against this increase and continue to work for a reduction of the tax burden on our citizens.

In our recent debacle of the Sheriff’s replacement by the Democratic Party, I was able to lead my fellow commissioners to a satisfactory solution to appoint an individual that demonstrated the integrity, qualifications, and the confidence of the entire community.
We face security threats at home that continue to require our local governments to work together on emergency management issues. I am dedicated to improving the way that we communicate with all our citizens, including those with language barriers, in times of emergency.

I want to continue working for:

• Efficiency and transparency in the County Commission
• Safety in our community including the eradication of gang violence.
• Fiscal responsibility and accountability

"I believe Mecklenburg County and its citizens are being challenged by the realities of the national and global economy but we must work diligently to achieve continuous balance and health of our local economy. That is my pledge to you. Everyday, I will work hard to achieve the
best for our community."
